This non-profit organization recently open its doors in 2012 and is dedicated to making sure that lovable, healthy canines that are personally selected from animal control facilities around the Houston are taken care of until they are adopted. As of August 2, 2014, K-9 Angels Rescue has sheltered and re-homed more than 1330 dogs and counting.
As the organization is 100% volunteer operated without any compensation, including board members, your help is greatly needed to keep operations running smoothly. Many dogs have been abandoned, neglected, abused, strays or surrendered to animal control, so volunteers must be compassionate and patient to contribute to the care of these animals that are in need of a safe, loving environment, as well as some training and behavioral modifications to get them ready for a new family. The facility believes in foster care first and then matching a dog with the right family.
Volunteering with K-9 Angels Rescue is a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, help the community, and assist dogs who need support. You’ll help greet visitors interested in adopting, help them find their perfect match, and of course, assist with the care of dogs at the adoption center. The more experience you gain, the more ways you can be of service to the organization, including writing Thank You notes, contributing to social media, or even become a foster parent yourself! Andy, 3 days after adoption from K-9 Angels Rescue
One of our Volunteer-Houston contributors, Nichole Doest, had an incredible experience adopting her then pup from K-9 Angels Rescue thanks to the amazing volunteers. Originally named “Panda,” her now 1-year old Andromeda or “Andy” for short is thriving with her new family. Nichole says that she was so well-behaved and affectionate that her and her boyfriend couldn’t resist taking her home. The organization even threw in a free round of shots, collar and leash on a return visit! The couple now encourages others to help dogs in our community by adopting from K-9 Rescue or joining their efforts.
