Houston is a great city to do volunteer work, there are so many opportunities and plenty of non-organizations needing your help. One in particular, the Houston Food Bank, needs volunteers all year round.
The Houston Food Bank is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes food to hunger relief charities across the city. All of the donations are made by wholesalers, grocery stores, and people looking to make a difference in the city of Houston.
You can either show up alone to join your fellow Houstonians or you can come in a group. There are many families, corporate groups, schools, and faith based organizations who volunteer at the Food Bank daily.
There are a variety of projects that occur at the food bank for people in need of both food and hope, such as the Work-n-Worship and NALC Food Drive 2014, two events occurring this month. The food bank needs help from you in order to help others.
