For more than 30 years the Alzheimer’s Association Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter has been making a difference in the lives of many who suffer from Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
Since its early days in 1982, the volunteer-driven organization has grown include 28 staff members and more than 300 volunteers who take the time to serve 37 counties. Families, scientists, caregivers, health care professionals and educators all work together to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, while ensuring that those who suffer from it are getting the proper care. Educating our community on brain health to further prevent dementia is also a top priority for the non-profit organization.
Volunteer opportunities include helping the staff deliver presentations, handing out information at resources tables and preparing for events such as their Walk to End Alzheimer’s. There are many ways that you can lend a hand to the 340,000 Texas patients living with Alzheimer’s disease.
