Volunteer Houston is a non-profit that has serves the Houston community by providing volunteers to other various nonprofit organizations around town. And, this year they are celebrating their 40th anniversary with an amazing event at Discovery Green.
The 40th Birthday Celebration and Volunteer Fair is free to attend, with free carnival style food provided to the first 1500 people who attend. Held as a birthday celebration for Volunteer Houston, it will also provide opportunities for 50 non-profit organizations to recruit new volunteers.
The large volunteer fair is main focus of the celebration, as non-profit organizations will be marketing themselves and you’ll be able to sign up directly with them to volunteer, giving back to your community. This is an awesome opportunity for you to find a non-profit for a specific cause you believe in and volunteer your time doing something important to you.
There will also be an onsite service project where attendees can create holiday cards for the Volunteer Houston Holiday Project. Swag bags will be handed out to all attendees as well as some additional giveaway items at the check in tables! Houston’s very own, Gallery Furniture has also donated four $450 gift cards to the event to be given away as prizes during the celebration!
If you’re worried about bringing the kids, don’t sweat it! There will be a fun Kid’s Zone with activities like balloon animals, face painting, and even a bouncy house!
Volunteer Houston will be recognizing their former board members in a ceremony as well as demoing their new volunteer database so people can see the full potential of the program. This is going to be a fantastic celebration not only of Volunteer Houston and all the work they do referring and recruiting people who wish to share their time, but also of the volunteers themselves and the organizations who work so hard for their causes. We hope you can come out and enjoy this event!
The 40th Birthday Celebration and Volunteer Fair will be held at Discovery Green Park at 1500 McKinney Street, Houston, Texas 77010 on October 26th from 10 am to 4 pm. RSVP to attend with your family today!
