Vee Somphon of The Huffington Post was inspired by her family’s personal experience immigrating to the U.S. from Laos, and decided to learn about attitude management. After exploring psychological studies and principles, Somphon gave these tips to better manage a bad attitude:
- Be grateful: Appreciate the little things that you have in your life. It’s important not to chase happiness, but accept the blessings and be thankful for what you already have.
- Remember what’s important: Think about what truly matters to you since we all can easily be distracted when we are stressed out. Reflect on your deeper purpose and what you want to be remembered for, then build your life around that goal.
- Use adversity to build resilience: You are strong and can adapt to any situation you put your mind to, even when it seems tough in the moment. Use your adaptability to increase your resilience, which will protect you against tough times.
- Stay hopeful when it all seems hopeless: Hope feeds dreams with motivation, keeping you from falling into despair and not working toward what you really want. It is worth it to protect your hopes at all cost.
- Keep a positive outlook as you face negative circumstances: The glass is always half-full and your spirit is stronger than you think. Speak positive words into your own life and know that your circumstances are temporary.
Times may get rough every now and then, but we have faith in you. When you are having a bad day, how you do adjust your attitude?
