The Children’s Museum of Houston can always use extra hands! Whether it’s interacting with the excited kids visiting, assisting the staff in assembling and maintaining exhibits, or helping the administrative staff keep it all together behind the scenes, the Children’s Museum needs you!
Adult volunteers are asked to complete a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer service to the museum each calendar year. You will be able to join the Museum Outreach program, work special events, or run the Information Booth answering questions and offering assistance.
For groups, such as youth church groups, scout troops and more, the Children’s Museum of Houston offers half or full day volunteer availability. All members of the group must be 14 years of age or older, and ready to enjoy a fun day earning volunteer hours and helping the community.
Plus, if you’re a teen between the ages of 14 and 17, you have a special opportunity from the Children’s Museum in the Discovery Squad program! Teens can sign up to join the Discovery Squad, where they will complete a minimum of 75 hours of volunteer service either during the summer months, or throughout the school year. This is a great way to not only have a blast lending a hand at the Museum, but also to earn important service hours for college-minded teens who want to show that they are caring for the community. Upon completion of the requisite number of hours, teens are also able to earn the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
To become a volunteer, simply visit their volunteer page and apply online to be considered. The Houston Children’s Museum is a fantastic asset to our city, and they could definitely use your help in keeping it fun and entertaining for all the children of Houston!
