Halloween season is upon us, which is hands down my favorite time of the year! Spooky costumes and decorations abound, the weather finally begins to cool down here in Houston, and massive displays of candy are put up in stores. Unfortunately, it never lasts as long as I would like, but I recently found out that the Houston Zombie Walk has events all year around!
The Houston Zombie Walk is a charitable organization that donates their proceeds to a few charities every year. For 2013 and 2014, all proceeds were donated to the Houston Children’s Charity, Houston Humane Society, and Dove Key Ranch – a wildlife rehabilitation center in Alleyton, Texas.
The organization’s major events are still, of course, in October due to the perfect timing of zombie walks and Halloween. However, they have taken their love for zombies and spread it throughout the entire year, even celebrating the halfway to Halloween mark with a pub crawl in May every year.
There are still a few events left this year from the Houston Zombie Walk if you’d like to enjoy a spooky good time, donate or volunteer with this fantastic organization. The Zombie Charge 5K is a terrifying obstacle course full of mud, surprises and of course, tons of zombies! They will also be throwing a huge zombie prom at the Bayou Music Center on Halloween night. Get dressed up as the bloodiest, scariest dead prom attendee and get professional photos taken to commemorate the evening. There will be live music, karaoke and zombie makeovers for those of you who aren’t as artistically inclined.
Come out and support this awesome organization during their best month, but if you can’t make it, don’t fret – there are tons of events next year! You can enjoy Halloween and zombies all year with Houston Zombie Walk while helping out animals and children in Houston. If you’d like to volunteer, simply fill out the form by clicking here!
